formulating a plan

The man in the suit, rubs his chin with his hand while he thinks, “I am not sure I have seen such a creature”

Sheamus interupts. “Aye, I have, that is a Rakshasa, evil creatures, I have fought a few in my day” “What did it say before it disappeared? Did it cast a spell?”

To the dark forest we go...

After the figure disappears some people look to be going about their business. The boys mother is crying and being comforted by her friends.

Shameus looks distraught. “That poor boy, death to that figure, did anyone see what it looked like?”

A human male with short blond hair and blue eyes comes out of the dark forest dressed in a suit, he steps onto a plat form and begins to speak loudly. “I have just heard of the events that transpired here only a few minutes ago, this is not right, it shall not stand and we shall get the boy back. Those of you too mentally of physically weak to fight please go to sit in the tent, it is okay, there is no shame in not fighting. Those with the fortitude, skill and stregnth to fight please follow me to my tent in the dark forest.”

a terrible thing

The Mad Professor, As you stand in line you hear a child scream off in the distance beyond the entrance to the gate. You see the dragon born at the gate rip off his coat and tear a wooden plank off the gate, he takes off running towards the scream. Most of the others around you are standing there looking confused, some annoyed, no one seems like they are running to assist. Sheamus runs past you with his weapon out, “saying thats my queue”.

Yougotnick: You hear a child scream off in the distance

High Queen of Skyrim: You see a cloaked figure appear and grab the boy. The boy immediately screams for help. The cloaked figure takes off towards the dark forest. Most seem to be standing around doing nothing to help.

Lachlan Rocksoul: As you stand up to exit the tent you see a little boy around three years old standing looking out of a rip in the tent. His mother is not paying attention chatting away with another women. You see a cloaked figure appear out of nowhere and grab the boy. The cloaked figure takes off running, some people in the tent look horrified, but no one is stepping up to do anything. The boy starts screaming and you see the horror etched on his face.

You walk towards the dark forest and notice a large tent and then off to the side there are benches, the whole area is fenced off and one human and one dragon borne are standing at the entrance side by side; both are wearing nicely tailored suits with gold pouches attached to their belts, there is a line of people in front of the human male to gain entrance...the dragon borne is standing there looking downcast and shifting uncomfortably.....

You notice the Human hand an elderly human lady a gold piece and the human says something to her and she walks off to the right and into a large tent....

Initiative

Please roll initiative and post your roll below. this will be the order we will go in for this adventure. we will re roll every few encounters. I need these rolls posted by Tuesday 7pm.... i also need character sheets/backgrounds by Thursday 8am (you can e-mail them to me, or message them to me through the meetup.


The rules of play...

if you are talking out of character please use /xxxxxxxxxxx/

to keep pace of play I ask that everyone check frequently (daily/every other day) to see if it is their turn to go. I will check daily to keep the game going smoothly...

If I see that you have not played in awhile (3 days) after your turn begins, I may take over your character and play your turn for you...

If you would rather pass on your turn because life happens, that is fine... just type /pass/

If a majority of players want to keep the posting to once a week say on Tuesday that is fine just let me know...

A player may join this game at any time.... if you wish to join.. I need your character sheet/background.. you will need to create a screen name on blogger...and I will need your initiative roll e-mailed to me.. it may take a couple of days but I will work you into the game....

an opportunity perhaps?

You are wandering around the city on your way to the local merchant to buy some much needed supplies and see this sign hanging outside the door.

.....wealth

These are tough times in our world, there have been several recent disasters which have effected the economy in a major way. Luckily shop keepers are in the business of haggling these days.

Everyone starts off with a set of clothes, a basic adventurers kit, backpack and a weapon (mundane) If you wish to shop for something let me know and we will haggle. :-)

Wealth Chart (players be honest when rolling please)

Rolls:
1: You come from a very wealth background the recent problems have not hit you as much as your fellows. 1000gp

2: The economy has hit you hard, you only have 300gp plus one lvl 7 magic item that you inherited from an ancestor.

3: Average wealth 500gp

4: you recently came into some money 600gp

5: you recently had your gold pouch stolen in a bar, damn rogues however you were able to salvage 100 gold you had in your shoe (uncomfortable, but hey it works) and he was not brazen enough to take your 2 magic items lvl 4 and lvl 5.

6: 700 gp, dang that was a good card game

My World!

The World:

Liestra: The centermost Kingdom in this world. It is the wealthiest and most influential. Lead by King Bastian, who became King at age 3, he is now 30. This Kingdom has always done well but has mostly relied on tribute for its vast wealth. They are part of what is known as the Sartarian Alliance (which consists of 3 of the most powerful Kingdoms in the world.) This Kingdom has representatives from every race residing within its borders. There are clusters of towns that are completely Elven within the great woodlands, they do not take kindly to strangers especially Humans.


Kilarta: This is the westernmost Kingdom of the world. Known for their fine wines and ales, this Dwarven/Halfling dominated Kingdom does pretty well for itself. Lead by the great king, Asheshaverous Thinglebotham, this is a very united kingdom. Their slogan is together we prosper, apart we fade away.

Toggellithia: This is the northernmost Kingdom and is part of the Sartarian Alliance. As a result of this they prosper in spite of the harsh conditions they are faced with. This kingdom has a long history of slaveholding and Piracy. It is known for its great port cities. It is lead by the “benevolent” King Reageanald. The Sartarian Alliance has threatened to kick them out several times for what it called irrehensible behavior, but has yet to do so because of the gold deposits that are rumored to lie below the surface in the center of this kingdom.

Rye: This is the Southernmost kingdom and is the third member of the Sartarian Alliance. This is the technological capital of the world. This Kingdom is dominated by Halflings and Dragonborn (the Halflings are subservient to the dragonbornes). Lead by King Alleara, whom for some reason looks like a really tiny Dragonborn, smaller than most Halflings, this Kingdom prospers because of his cunning. This Kingdom has gone through many coups and its name changes quite consistently.

Nonamia: This is the Eastern most kingdom. This Kingdom has been war ravaged for generations. For the past 5 years it has been lead by King Thomas, a human. This Kingdom consists mostly of Human, Elves and Eladran, with pockets of other races. They are trying to form a standing military instead of the volunteer one they currently have.

Create a 3rd level character

Allowed books, PHB1, PHB2, Adventurers vault. However, you will find that I am a very leinent DM, if you want to use a book beyond the allowed books I will usually allow it however, I will need you to find a way to show me info on the race etc you want to use, perhaps via a web site. I hope to add more books to my collection soon.

Stats: Roll 4d6 (this method is detailed in the PHB), since this is a play by post all rolls are on the honor system.

Money: We are going to do something a little bit different, Roll a d6.... this will determine your wealth level.. once you message me your roll I will tell you your starting gold.

The fun stuff! please create a back story!

I will not share these with other players but it will help me come up with some fun scenarios, that could result in extra XP :-)
